"I wouldn't have accepted [the terms of work] and then gotten into trouble," Arozamena said. "It's a waste of time."

According to a press release, part of the difficulties at Yale stem from the TAs' attempts to define themselves as employees, rather than students.

Recognition as employees would allow the TAs to unionize.

However, Arozamena said he considers TFs to be students, not employees.

"People are generally pretty happy," said Dean E. Budnick, a TF for Historical Studies B-42: "The Civil War."

Burger said Yale TAs are more inclined to strike than Harvard TFs because they must teach Yale undergraduates. That might cause anyone to go on strike, he quipped.
