The MIT squash team has never engineered a victory over the Crimson and this year was no exception. Despite the absence of two regular starters, Harvard's racquetmen blasted MIT 8-1 last night in Hemenway.

John Havens, playing number one instead of Mike Desaulniers, emerged from his recent slump to squeeze past Yusuf Maniya, 15-10, 15-9, 10-15, 12-25, and 15-13.

At five, Mitch Reese also went the full distance, ending up on the wrong side of the 3-2 score, and registering the lone Crimson loss.

The other Crimson totally outclassed their lackluster opponents. Number three, Mark Panarese, edged Kevin Burns in three straight tiebreakers to win the contest, 18-14, 17-14, and 17-15.

Zipping Along

Ned Bacon, John Stubbs, Clark Bain and Jeff Secrest (numbers two, four, seven and eight respectively) disposed of their opposition easily and continued the long string of zeros on the MIT scorecard.

In the sixth slot, Chuck Elliott sent Armando Garza-Sada home to slide rules and calculators early as he won the lop-sided match, 15-5, 15-7, and 15-8. John Fishwick only gave up eight points in all of his short-lived outing against Lloyd Benjamin. In the words of Manager White Ford, Fishwick "gave him the donut," scoring a 15-0, 15-5, 15-3 whitewash.

The racquetmen travel to Yale tomorrow afternoon where they expect to face some stiffer competition. "Yale hasn't beaten us in quite a few years and they are psyched to play us," Panarese said.

"Besides," he added, "it's the Yale match.
