Mr. Thompson is in the closed alcove of the Library, Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 4.30 p. m.

Mr. Baker is in his room, 24 Grays hall, daily from 1.30 to 2.30 p. m.

THE PRINCIPLES OF TAXATION.Five university lectures will be delivered during March by the Hon. David A. Wells on "The Principles of Taxation." They will be given in Sever 11, and will be open to the public. The topics and dates are as follows:

Wednesday, March 19-General Survey of the subject. Meaning of Taxation. Origin and use of terms.

Thursday, March 20-Place of taxation in Literature and history.

Monday, March 24-The functions of taxation in relation to the state.

Wednesday, March 26-The present methods of taxation.

Monday, March 31-The best methods of taxation.

THE GEORGE B. SOHIER PRIZE.The president and fellows of Harvard College have voted to establish the George B. Sohier prize of two hundred and fifty dollars a year for the best thesis presented by a successful candidate for honors in English or in Modern Literature. The prize is assignable this year.
