ENGLISH B.A lecture on Descriptive Writing will be given in Sever 11 on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 2 o'clock.
Theme I. will be due on Tuesday, October 9. It is to be autobiographic in character, on some topic at once personal and significant, such as "Why I Came to College," "What I Hope to Accomplish in Life," "How I Pass My Time," "My Favorite Amusement," or the like.
Themes are to be deposited in the wooden box in Sever 3 not later than 4 o'clock. By the regulations, no over due theme will be accepted unless the writer satisfies the secretary that his failure to present it at the appointed time was caused by serious illness or other unavoidable hindrance.
Every student is required to follow implicitly the directions with regard to paper, folding, endorsing, etc., given on the English Composition card.
SANDERS THEATRE CONCERTS.The Symphony Concerts in Sanders Theatre will take place on the following days: November 1, December 6, January 3, February 7, March 7.
ELOCUTION.Mr. Hayes will be in Holden Chapel on Monday and Tuesday at 12 o'clock to meet students who desire to take the voluntary work in Elocution.
COLLEGE LIBRARY.The Library is open on week days (excepting public holidays) from 9 till 5 o'clock, and on Sundays from 1 till 5.
All members of the University are entitled to register as borrowers on the presentation of the bursar's certificate. Three volumes can be taken at a time, and may be kept one month, and renewed, if not in demand. Any person keeping books beyond the prescribed time is subject to a fine of ten cents a day for each volume. Books reserved by officers of instruction, and unbound periodicals, are in open alcoves in the reading-room, and can be taken out, at the close of Library hours, when properly charged at the delivery desk, and must be returned the next morning at 9 o'clock. Encyclopaedias and other books of reference in the delivery room may be taken out under similar rules, and within the discretion of the Superintendent of Circulation (Mr. Kiernan.)
MISCELLANEOUS.The Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Peabody Museum of Archaeology, and the Mineral Museum in Boylston Hall, are open to the public every week day from 9 till 5. From May 1st till Nov. 1st the Museum of Comparative Zoology is open on Sundays from 1 till 5 o'clock.
The Botanic Garden is open Sundays as well as week-days.
The Library in Gore Hall is open Sundays during term-time from 1 till 5 p. m. for the use of members of the University only.
