FACT AND RUMOR.

The petition for the extension of the Thanksgiving recess will be left for signatures in the auditor's room at Memorial during the day, and at Bartlett's in the evening.

On next Saturday, Nov. 4, the freshman eleven will play in Andover against the eleven of Phillips-Andover Academy. The train leaves the Boston & Maine station at 12.30. All desiring to accompany the eleven at reduced rates are requested to enter their names in the book at Bartlett's. Round trip tickets will cost about $1.00.

The bursar's office was besieged yesterday morning by a long line of professors and instructors applying for seats for the coming symphony concerts in Sanders Theatre.

All members of the freshman class who rowed in the scratch races Saturday are requested to pay the entrance fee of fifty cents, at once, to T. H. Cabot, 25 Holyoke street.

A letter from Harvard appears in the last number of the New York Semi-Weekly Post. We understand that the Advocate has accepted the Crimson's challenge to a boat race, and that arrangements as to time, etc., will soon be settled.

Lacrosse is thriving at Harvard as well as at Yale and Princeton, only it has advanced so far at the former place as to advocate the freshmen forming a distinct class team of their own. We may never hope to be successful against Harvard on this field unless we advance with her, if not ahead of her, in all such fostering schemes to supply the 'Varsity up to its requirement and the requirement of the athletic status of Princeton.
