Ray Leone to take over as head coach of women’s soccer

The Harvard women’s soccer team’s search for a new head coach is over.

In a press conference yesterday, Nichols Family Director of Athletics Bob Scalise announced that Ray Leone from Arizona State University will fill the vacancy.

In six seasons with the Sun Devils, Leone managed a 60-45-4 record. In his 16 years as a head coach overall he has recorded a 192-103-27 mark, good enough for 24th in wins among active head coaches in NCAA Division I history.

Leone will be the third Crimson coach in as many years. He is replacing Erica Walsh, who spent just one year with the Crimson before entering her resignation in February to become the third Penn State coach in history. She had replaced coach Stephanie Erickson who left for Northwestern after the 2005 season.
