MEN'S TENNIS OFFICIALLY HEADED TO NCAA'S

Don't look now, but Harvard's got a team that's going to the NCAA Tournament.

That's the Harvard men's tennis team, which was formally given an invitation yesterday to the NCAA Region I Championships at Princeton, N.J.

Harvard (17-6), ranked No. 31 in the nation and the EITA champion, earned the second seed in the six-team regional. The top spot went to No. 12 South Alabama (22-2), who beat Harvard earlier this year, 4-3.

Rounding out the other four seeds are third-seeded Princeton (16-7, No. 42), fourth-seeded Miami (12-11, No. 22), fifth-seeded Dartmouth (11-5) and sixth-seeded Columbia (12-4, No. 49). Harvard has played and defeated all of these teams except for Miami.

In the six-team tournament, Miami takes on Dartmouth Friday morning, and Princeton battles Columbia in front of the home fans in the afternoon. On Saturday, South Alabama starts the action by playing the Miami/Dartmouth winner, followed by Harvard against the winner of Princeton/Columbia.
