Employees evacuated Tommy's Lunch late Wednesday night after a bomb threat was phoned in to the popular dining spot and arcade.
But it was soon business as usual as owner Tommy Stephanos shrugged off possible danger and continued to serve his regular customers.
At an hour that Stephanos would describe only as "late," an unidentified person called the 49 Mt. Auburn St. hangout with the bomb threat. A similar threat was reportedly called in to the restaurant earlier this week.
According to Cambridge Police files, which record the event as occuring somewhere between 7 p.m. and 12 a.m., a Cambridge fire deputy arrived at the restaurant shortly after the call.
Police records also indicate that there is a "suspect" and a "court action pending."
But Stephanos, who refused to provide the exact spelling of his name, said he's leaving the legal proceedings to the police. "Suspect?" Stephanos said. "What suspect? Thepolice can have whatever they want." Tommy said he was not aware of any motivesbehind the threats and he is not concerned abouttheir recurrence. He said he has received "atleast 40" similar calls in the more than 35 yearhe has owned the restaurant. "I'm going to chalk it up to another foolishprank," he said. "I've been here 40 years and if Ihad to worry about every little thing I've seen;guys running through here naked, guys threateningto shoot if I didn't open the door..." Tommy said he won't pursue the matter anyfurther. But he has taken one precaution anyway. "I'm here just in case he calls back," he said
