M. Ruggers Fall

The Harvard men's rugby team ended its season last Saturday by losing to Army, 25-10, in the Eastern Regional semi-finals in Baton Rouge, La.

The loss to the Cadets was the first of the year for the Crimson squad, which ended its season with an impressive 12-1 mark.

Army beat Louisiana State University on Sunday to win the Eastern Regionals and will advance to the Rugby National Championships to be held in Colorado Springs, CO., next May.

"We didn't play our best game, but they are a really good team," said team member Andrew Pinkerton.

The Cadets jumped out in the first half with a 19-3 lead that caught the Crimson off guard.

"We came out really flat," Pinkerton said. "They were on our side for the entire first half."

Harvard kept it closer in the second frame, outscoring Army, 7-6.

"The second half was a lot more even," said Pinkerton.

Captain Soren Oberg, flanker Dave Houston and sophomore Andy Howard all turned in solid performances for the Crimson in the defeat.
