Remember last week's disputed re-row in San Diego that the Harvard heavyweights won after Washington beat them the first time around? Last Wednesday, race officials got together in a conference call and nullified Harvard's victory in the disputed re-row.

Wisconsin had protested the start of the first race, claiming that the official had issued improper, confusing signals at the starting line. The head referee upheld the protest immediately after the race and ordered a re-row, but this Wednesday the officials decided to award Washington the victory on the basis of the first race.

Members of the Harvard boat were surprised at the decision but didn't lodge any serious gripes. They all agreed that the whole affair was botched from the start and are looking forward to taking on the Huskies again this June in Cincinnati at the Nationals.

"Re-rows are uncommon as it is," said coxswain Travis Metz, "so we felt lucky just to have the chance at a second race. The starter definitely messed up the commands and I think a restart was in order."
