W. Cagers Triumph

Let's set the record straight: the Harvard women's basketball team should be ready for Saturday's Ivy opener against Dartmouth.

Last night in North Andover, the Crimson (5-5) easily defeated Merrimack, 102-67, in its last game before the showdown with the Big Green in Hanover, N.H.

Beth Wambach led the Crimson with 19 points, as every Harvard player saw action. Freshman Debbie Flandermeyer netted 18 points, while Maura Healey knocked in 12 points.

"It was good preperation. Luckily, we weren't thinking about Dartmouth," Harvard's Jody Fink said.

The victory gave the Crimson a perfect 2-0 record for the winter break. On December 20, Harvard defeated Robert Morris, 86-70, at Briggs.

In that game, Sandy Springer led the Crimson with 17 points, while Dina Hadrick came off the bench to net 12 points. Wambach dished off nine assists. Overall, Harvard shot a torrid 61 percent-from the field to capture the victory.
