Fencers Take One of Three

The Harvard fencing teams nabbed one victory but were foiled twice last weekend at the Malkin Athletic Center against Princeton and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The women foilers split on the weekend, defeating Princeton,, 11-5, but falling to FDU, 10-6. Meanwhile, the men also fell, 16-11, to Princeton.

The women's victory over Princeton was to be expected, since women's fencing at Princeton is a club sport.

"Everybody fenced well," junior Captain Penelope Papailias, "Princeton definately fenced well, but they are a weaker team than us."

Papailias, who finished 7-1 on the weekend, won all four of her bouts against the Tigers. Junior Kristina Perkin and sophomores Michelle Kosch and Amy Neuhardt each notched 3-1 records to help spearhead the Crimson's victory.
