As the Harvard wrestling team's hopes for an Ivy League championship dissolve, its chances for an Academy Award increase.

After receiving a dismal thrashing from Brown, 34-11, in the first part of a triangular meet Saturday in Providence, the grapplers delivered a victory, custom designed by Hollywood, defeating Central Connecticut College, 21-20.

The split brings the Crimson's record to 7-7 overall, 1-4 in the Ivy League. Brown stands tall at 4-1 in the Ivies, 12-2-1 overall.

The obvious nomination for Best Actor would be heavyweight terror Tony Consigli Cast as Atlas, Consigli shouldered the Crimson's hopes for salvaging the afternoon. Harvard trailed Central Conn, 20-15, going into the final match of the afternoon, and only a pin could bring victory.

Central Connecticut didn't dog it either, jumping out to a 16-3 lead. Harvard rebounded with slim victories from Tim Keirstead at 150-lbs., John Freeman at 158-lbs., and David George at 167-lbs. Keirstead and George needed third-period escapes to edge their opponents by a point, while Freeman cruised to an 11-9 decision.

The victory capped off an afternoon of heart-wrenching melodrama for the Crimson squad.

Fencers Take Two

With the score tied 13-all, Harvard fencing All-America Jim O'Neill was matched with Cornell's John Skowland.

After a double-touch to start the match, O'Neill captured four of the final touches to win the match, 5-2, and to give Harvard its first Ivy win of the season, 14-13, over Cornell Saturday in Ithaca.

The women also won, easily defeating Cornell, 13-3. Captain Penelope Papailias and Amy Neuhardt both finished with unblemished records (4-0) while Michelle Kosch won three of her bouts.
