The Harvard J.V. soccer team travelled to Andover yesterday, and although they outplayed the preppies, the Crimson succumbed to poor refereeing and had to settle for a 2-2 tie.

Opening Score

Harvard opened the scoring after only ten minutes of play. Center-forward Bob Fritz connected with a cross pass to freshman left wing Jack Correia. Correia then walked in one-on-one against an over-matched Andover goalie and slammed the ball home for the score.

Ten minutes later, Fritz took a pass from center-half and captain Tim Carey, split two Andover forwards, and slipped a shot into the lower corner to make it 2-0, Harvard.

In the second half, Andover cut the margin to one goal when a Phillipian forward rifled a shot from ten yards out that cluded Crimson netminder Larry Garrett.

Andover evened the score when the referee assessed Garrett with a charging violation and awarded a penalty kick to Andover. Although Harvard disputed the ruling, the Phillipians made good on the kick and the game ended in a tie, 2-2.

The Crimson, now 4-4-1, hosts an undefeated Brown eleven Friday at 2 p.m. on the Business School field.
