POLICE NEGOTIATIONS RESUMED

The University will resume stalled contract negotiations with the Harvard Patrolmen's Association next week, Edward W. Powers, associate general counsel for employee relations, said yesterday.

Powers said the meeting with union representatives will cover "a number of issues," including the possible selection of a third party to help mediate the dispute over police morale that has hampered the talks since they opened in January.

The talks broke down on February 25 when the federal mediator in charge of the talks ordered both sides to call in an outside party to help settle the union's complaint that the reorganization efforts of David L. Gorski, outgoing chief of the University police, had lowered morale in the force.
