Winter Season Moves In

Transition time has come as the fall sports retire for the season, and the winter sports scene begins to take shape. The new season broke the ice Tuesday night at Watson Rink when the hockey team lost a heartbreaker to the Woodsmen of Dartmouth, 5-4, in overtime. But the Crimson will have a week to regroup after the dramatic defeat and get ready for University of Vermont, the team that will visit Watson next Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.

The fencers swing into action this week, with the men facing England's Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, tonight at 7:30 in the IAB. The women square off with Rhode Island College tomorrow night in Rhode Island.

Steffi Walsh and her swimmers will be in Wellesley Saturday for the season-opening Wellesley Relays, a multi-team affair that has traditionally kicked off the women's season.

As for the rest of the sports scene, there's still a week of training left before the Turkey-day break, and then the full winter season gets into swing, with basketball, both men's and women's, opening at the IAB on November 30 against UMass.

Track, squash, skiing, wrestling, and men's swimming still to come... Get ready for a real power play.
