Harvard's freshman tennis team squeezed past a tough Princeton J.V. squad, 5-4, Saturday, to capture its 11th straight victory and give the Yardling racquetmen an unblemished record for the season.

Harvard, which won only three out of six singles matches, came back to seize two out of three doubles to turn back a Tiger squad that many rated the toughest team Harvard would face this year.

The Crimson netmen got singles wins from Tim Levy, Dave Chase and Jeff Golan. Levy, who dropped his first set to Steve Hoff, 6-1, bounced back to grab two straight, 6-2 and 6-3. Chase put away Fred Furgerstrom, 6-1, 4-6 and 6-3. Golan had little difficulty with Andy Corley in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4.

Number one man and captain John Thornton couldn't get untracked at all against Tiger star Jeff Oakes, and lost, 7-5, 6-3. Tim Black lost to Weller Evans, 3-6, 7-5, 1-6, at number three, while five man Jeff Weigand dropped straight sets to Mike Crost, 4-6 and 3-6.

In doubles the troubles that plagued the top portion of the Yardling ladder, conveniently disappeared as Harvard took the first two matches to sew up a team victory.

Thronton and Andy Carter topped Furgerstrom-Evans and Levy-Chase put away Huff-Steve Mortimer for the Crimson. Only the Crimson team of Black-Golan lost. It was beaten by the Tiger tandem of Crawford-Crost.
