Racquetwomen Top Brown Team, 4-1

The Radcliffe tennis team finally got that winning feeling here Wednesday to post their first victory of the season, walloping a hard-fighting Brown squad, 4-1.

The highlight of the match was the second doubles contest, when Brown's Terry Child and Polly Fourman nipped Jill Robertson and Marcy Richardson 6-7, 7-6, 7-6. Both teams played extremely well, but in the end it was nerves rather than skill which decided the match, as each set came to a nine-point tiebreaker.

In other action, Meg Morgan got hot to win first singles, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, Joy Skon walked away with second singles, 6-2, 6-4, and Emily Spitzer won 6-4, 6-1 in third singles. Kathy Agoos and Lisa Muscatine teamed in the first doubles and took an 8-5 pro-set.

First Dual Meet Win

The Brown victory is Radcliffe's first win in five dual meets, but the record can be misleading. Thirteen New England teams participated in the Seven Sisters Tournament held at Yale last weekend, and the Radcliffe women finished in second place behind the Elis.
