Bring on Columbia! The racquetmen smashed a mediocre Yale squad yesterday, 7-2, and confidently looked ahead to upcoming matches with serious Ivy contenders.

The Crimson dominated the Elis from the start, and played consistently well in a series of matches full of long rallies.

Freshman Gary Reiner, winning at the number one position, 7-6 and 6-4, called the match a "decisive victory." "They had a little trouble with our soft courts," he said. "But we would have beaten them anywhere."

Tom Loring agreed that Yale was a fairly weak team, but noted that most of the team had a good day and played up to form.

Reiner said that powerhouse Columbia, rather than Yale, is the great rival this year. "Columbia is the team to beat this year, and we're really looking forward to the match against them next Saturday," he said.

"Columbia is on everybody's minds now," said Loring. "After today's victory, you can't help but think ahead to matches with the tough teams."

The Crimson is now sporting a perfect 4-0 record in Ivy play, beating Penn and stealing a pair of cliff-hangers from Navy and Brown before walloping Yale yesterday.

The racquetmen take on weak squads from Williams and Cornell before they take swings against the Lions.

Provided the Crimson doesn't trip this coming week, Coach Jack Barnaby's unit may soon be hustling into the Ivy league championship match.
