David met Goliath, and this time the big boy took home all the marbles, as a Princeton powerhouse shut out the Radcliffe tennis squad on Friday.

The day began with the Cliffies huddled in the shadow of the Palmer Dixon courts trying to decide which courts were available for matches and ended with Princeton winning all six singles matches and all three doubles games without once going into a third set.

Captain Meg Morgan was shut out in her singles match against Marjone Gengler, 6-0, 6-0, while senior Sara Stearns lost to Jane Kincaid, 6-1, 6-0. Princeton's Sue Epstein likewise shut out Junior Jill Robertson while Marjone's sister Louise Gengler defeated sophomore Joy Skon, 6-1, 6-2. Ingrid Sarapuu and Marcy Richmond also lost their matches, 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0 respectively.

Morgan and Stearns lost the first doubles match to the Gengler sisters, 6-1, 6-2. Skon and Robertson folded 6-1, 6-0, and Sarapuu and Richmond lost 6-1, 6-1.

The chronically disorganized 'Cliffe squad faced a Princeton team with several nationally ranked players.

Evert's Partner

As the day progressed, Radcliffe's players could be heard saying such things as, "See her, she is chris Evert's doubles partner," and, "What am I doing here?"

"They're in a class by themselves," Richmond said yesterday.

They are, too Princeton has much better facilities than Radcliffe and spends a lot more time, money and energy building its women's team. The East's top ranked squad was no match for the Cliffies.

Radcliffe faces Yale this Saturday. The predictions?

"We can't do any worse," Richmond summed up.
