F.Skiddy von Stade Jr.'38, Master of Mather House, said Friday that he hopes students assigned to Mather House will be able to move in by intercession.

Von Stade said he is "very hopeful that we will have some sophomores and juniors in Mather by the beginning of the Spring term."

There have been no slowdowns since summer, when a construction workers' strike held up the building of Mather for five weeks. Von Stade had predicted last spring that students would be able to move into Mather in November.

Only the low-rise part of Mather will be completed by intercession. That section will accommodate the 135 displaced Mather sophomores and some juniors. The dining hall will be finished "within weeks" of the low-rise part, von Stade said, but the 19-story tower will not be ready until September.

Of the 135 students assigned to Mather, eight are living in Wigglesworth in the Yard, 22 are in Perkins and Conant Halls, graduate school dormitories, and six are in Claverly Hall. The remaining 99 are scattered throughout the Houses. Lowell has the most, 21, and Winthrop has the fewest, one.

Sophomore Dinner

A dinner for Mather sophomores will be held at Dunster on October 29. Von Stade will ask the sophomores then whether they wish to field intramural athletic teams for the winter season.

Von Stade has opened a temporary House Office in 17 University Hall and has named his Mather House staff. The Allston Burr Senior Tutor will be Kenneth M. Deitch, assistant professor of Economies.

Associates of the House include George W. Goethals, lecturer on Social Relations; John W. M. Whiting. professor of Social Anthropology: and Edward T. Wilcox, director of the Program of General Education. Resident tutors include a husband and wife team-Carl A. and Karen Sheingold, both teaching fellows in Social Relations.
