Angered by the meet director's arbitrary and picayune rulings, the Harvard fencers outdueled host Brandeis, 16-11, last night.

The contest was close for a while, but coach Edo Marion and his team nearly walked out after the meet director called a number of technicalities the Crimson had never seen before. The team remained, however, and went on to win.

In epee Bill Theodore swept all three matches, while Paul Viita and John Reitz won two apiece.

Bon Winfield, a strong Crimson contender for an all-Ivy sabre slot, outclassed all three of his Brandeis opponents. Tony Abbott won one match and lost two, as did Bob Barnard. Backing away from his man. Barnard smashed into and shattered a six-foot mirror on the wall.

In foil competition Cliff Ruderman snared two matches and dropped one. Tom Mistick and Art Weissman each captured one and lost two.

The duelers, now 7-7, finish their regular season at Yale on Saturday.
