Leverett, Quincy, Eliot Win Titles In House Sports

Bobby Leo's younger brother Bruce recovered a fumble by Lowell's punter, and two plays later Phil Koch went off tackle for a touchdown as Leverett edged Lowell 6-0 yesterday to win the tackle football championship.

Leo also made two key interceptions in a game which featured two powerful defenses. Elsewhere yesterday, Eliot's strong passing attack inflicted a 14-0 loss on Dunster, and Adams dumped Winthrop 13-0 to earn a share of fourth place.

The championship was a major consolation for Leverett, which had to settle for second place in soccer and touch football. The Bunnies also won the cross country meet, so they now hold a commanding Strauss Trophy lead after the fall season.

Quincy completely outclassed all opponents in the touch football league. In a showdown between the top two teams, Quincy bombed Leverett 34-14 with Ken Sandler and Jim Fabiani sparking the offense. In the season finale, Tommy Harris led Quincy to a crushing 53-0 victory over Winthrop as the threw five touchdown passes.

Dunster finished on a high note, also, as Bo Bohannon's ball club rolled over Eliot 28-7 and demolished Kirkland 61-7. In the Kirkland fiasco, flankerback Pete Kaiser tallied three times to highlight the game, which was ended prematurely by a prudent referee.

Lowell, however, rolled up the highest score of the season as it routinely tore apart Adams 68-19. Vaho Rebassoo and George Olive were the main point-producers.

In soccer action, Leverett downed Quincy 1-0 to set up a showdown with first-place Eliot after Eliot overcame a stubborn Dunster team 4-1. Leverett tallied first in the crucial game, but then Eliot scored three times to win 3-1.
