The golf team clobbered an outclassed M.I.T. squad Friday to boost its record to three and one. But today Harvard takes on Williams and Boston College, and the competition should be much tougher.

In Friday's 5-2 plastering of the Engineers, Harvard's seniors led the way. All four of them won. Captain Mike Millis edged his opponent on the last hole, and Steve Bergman whipped his, four and three.

The other two seniors hung onto their undefeated records. John Hawkins, playing number three, won his third straight. And Wayne Thornborough fired the best round of the day, a five-over par 76, to extend his unbeaten streak to four matches. Thornborough, now number six, will switch positions with number five man Bob Kidder for today's contest.

Kidder, a sophomore who performed well in spring practice in Charleston, S.C., has lost in every match this year. He hasn't regained the putting touch he had in Charleston, where he qualified fourth.

Coach Cooney Weiland plans to make another change in the lineup for today's match at Williams. Jim Torhorst, the notorious wanderer, has finally returned from his Florida vacation. He will play may be at Providence against Brown this Wednesday.

number seven and should bolster the bottom part of the lineup, which has so far performed poorly.

Bob Schnitz, an alternate who has been playing in place of Torhorst, will be dropped from the lineup for today's contest. Schnitz has won two matches and tied one, but Weiland feels Torhorst should be well rested and deserves a spot in the lineup.

Last year the Crimson walloped Williams, 5-2, and B.C., 6-1. But Weiland is not over-confident. "They'll be the toughest team we've faced since Navy," he said. Torhorst is an unknown quantity, but he'll have to come through if Harvard is to win.
