The varsity hockey team predictably trampled Princeton at Watson Rink Saturday night in preparation for tomorrow's crucial contest with Boston College. Dick Blakey, playing his second game on the first line, scored three goals in the 6-1 romp.

John Cook, Princeton's all-Ivy forward and the league's leading scorer, opened the evening with a long slap shot wide of the Crimson nets. That was about as close as the toothless Tigers came the rest of the night.

During the entire first period, the Crimson's three forward lines pommeled Princeton goalie Bill Hill without pause. Behind a non-existent defense, the hard-working Hill made 20 saves in the first 15 minutes of play, while Crimson netminder Chris Steedman remained completely idle at the varsity end of the ice.

Although the varsity lines skated around and through the Tiger secondary at will, Hill was equal to every occasion until Gene Kinasewich's goal at the 9:22 mark. Coach Cooney Weiland's star forward drilled the puck into the nets from close in after a Dave Johnston pass from the point.

Nine minutes later, Mike Tyler picked up his first goal of the season to give the varsity a 2-0 lead. Princeton, on one of its few excursions past the Crimson blue line, responded with a goal at 19:24. The marker came on a long screen shot that Steedman would have stopped if his vision hadn't been blocked by his own defensemen.

Squelching this one sign of Princeton prowess, the varsity responded with a goal 27 seconds later (the first of three for Blakey). Goalie Hill finished the period with 25 saves (better than one a minute) while lonely Chris Steedman registered a single stop in the varsity nets.

The Crimson wasted little time in the second period, taking a 4-1 lead on Blakey's second goal at 2:59. Tim Taylor picked up the second of three assists on the play and added a goal of his own eight minutes later.

Hill's persistent heroics in the Tiger nets held the varsity to a single score in the final period. The goal, Blakey's third at 11:03, gave the Crimson its 6-1 victory margin.

Tiger skaters forced Crimson goalies to make a mere nine saves in the one-sided contest and rarely brought the puck into the varsity's defensive zone. At the other end of the ice Hill made a phenomenal 55 saves in what must have been a very long evening.
