Freshman Sports Get Long Due Recognition

(ED.NOTE--In yesterday's summary account of the state of freshman sports, mention of a certain number of them was inadvertently omitted. The following article attempts to rectify the omission.)

While the other teams were busy piling up potential, the undefeated freshman golf team was out on the links, romping over Andover four to three. Fred Taylor, former Oregon Junior Champion, and Jim Buchanan have helped to get the team off to a roaring start.

The tennis squad is also a very strong one, especially in the doubles team and the top two singles players. Coach Corey Wynn feels that all six of his starters are extremely close in ability and calls this team "one of the best I've had." Dean Peckham, Chauncey Steele, and Terry Robinson hold down the top three rungs on the ladder.

Now, as has been observed before, there is also a freshman sailing team (happily). It has competed in four meets and managed to pull out a second in every one--out of fields of about ten teams. Last week, it qualified for next week's finals for the big Nickerson Trophy.
