Leverett Eleven Best in Houses

Leverett, winner of two games and loser to no one, stands at the top in House football, after two possible champions, played each other to a scoreless tie yesterday and another had its first contest postponed.

The top-place squad claimed its second victory Monday when it smashed Dudley 18-0. It had scored against Adams a week ago.

A tie game between Lowell and Kirkland, each with a victory under its belt after last week's action, removed both from present consideration. Kirkland took the House tackle championship last Fall, but after its team members had played together for three years. This fall the squad was left with only four starters from two platoons of former champions. The Deacons, the only single-wing team among House players, got off to a slow start with a scoreless first half against Dudley in their first trial Thursday, but turned it into a 22-0 success later.

Lowell nearly defeated them, advancing to Kirkland 14- and 12-yard lines in first-half drives. After half-time, however, neither team made any progress. The men from Lowell had temporarily ruined Dunster's record by handing them a defeat a week ago.

Adams House fell to the bottom of present standings yesterday when it made only one first down and fell to Eliot 13-0. Eliot, which placed all 13 points over Adams' goal line before the half-time gun, is highly-considered but lags in the standings because Winthrop postponed a Friday game with them, claiming unreadiness.

Dunster now has a 1-1 record after defeating Quincy 8-6 in yesterday afternoon's third struggle. After successfully moving 80 yards to the goal in the game's only sustained drive, the Dunster squad got its eighth point with a quarterback's option by Jim Potter.

Quincy, playing in its initial game, managed its lone touchdown on the game's fourth play. A Dunster fourth-down punt was blocked, shot straight up, and dropped into the arms of a waiting Quincy lineman, who made the touchdown.
