Crimson Defeats Tufts In Freshman Soccer

The freshman soccer team won its third straight game with an impressive 5-1 victory over Tufts yesterday. Center forward Vick Montoya scored three times and left wing Sam Thompson tallied twice in the rout.

Two Crimson goalies made only three saves during the contest, while the Tufts goalie was bombarded with 32 shots. The only Jumbo score was late in the fourth period. Friday the Crimson squad meets Dartmouth here at 2 p.m. in an Ivy clash.

The freshman football team will face its second test today against Brown, in Providence. After its 21-4 victory over Tufts last week, the prospects for a victory are fairly good.

George Spoto, who passed for one touchdown and scored another on a quarterback sneak in the first game, will attempt to guide the team to its second victory. In addition, coach Henry Lamar has considerable depth on the squad.

However, Lamar voiced a cautious attitude, commenting. "We'll have to be better than we were against Tufts if we want to win."

The junior varsity game previously scheduled to be played today has been cancelled.
