HANOVER, N.H., Feb. 11--There was never any question about the outcome of tonight's game here as powerful Dartmouth continued to roll over Ivy League opposition, putting the Crimson to rout, 71 to 50. George Harrington led the varsity in defeat with 14 points.

Four Dartmouth men hit double figures. The redoubtable Rudy LaRusso did not play one of his best games, but was nevertheless good for 15 points. Also up there were Walt Sosnowski with 12, Bryant Barnes with 11, and Gary Vanderweghe with ten.

Dartmouth began in workmanlike fashion, jumping off to a 7 to 1 lead in the first three minutes. Penetrating the Crimson zone with frightening regularity, the Indians continued to build up their margin despite characteristic hustle by the varsity.

At the nine-minute mark Dartmouth led 17 to 7 on LaRusso's sixth free throw without a miss. Then Coach Doggie Julian started substituting freely, and his reserves gave the hosts a 34-17 halftime advantage.

It was a clear-cut case of superiority as the Indians hit for a phenomenal 42 per cent from the floor and 88 per cent from the free throw line, compared to the Crimson's 23 per cent from the floor and 63 per cent on free throws.

Dartmouth Retained Lead

The second half was fairly even, although the Indians maintained their power throughout. After five minutes, the margin was still 14 points. After Harrington began to toss in long set shots, the Green showed why it has won 11 straight games--and leads the league with an 8-0 mark--by increasing the lead this time to 21 points, at the 14-minute mark.

From that point on, it was pretty much of a battle of substitutes. Bob Bowditch, who is now recovering from a bad cold, began to find the range and it was his seven tallies coupled with Harrington's marksmanship that kept the score from being more one-sided.

The Ivy race now points to the two big Dartmouth-Princeton games later this month, as all of the other teams have virtually eliminated themselves from title contention. Unfortunately for Dartmouth, any chance it may have to play in the NCAA Tournament might go by the boards as exam period for the college comes the same week. The Crimson's next game is an Ivy encounter against Brown this Saturday at the I.A.B.
