Tennis Team Enters New England Tourney

Captain Dale Junta will try for his third straight New England Intercollegiate tennis crown this weekend when he, Larry Sears, Ned Weld, and Fred Vinton represent the varsity in the tournament at Providence. The Crimson will be defending its team title for the second year in a row.

Vinton won the fourth spot on the team by upsetting Al Goldman yesterday afternoon in a test match. The sophomore, who has played one position below Gold-man all season, took the contest in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Junta and Sears will be seeded number one in the doubles, as they won the crown last year by downing the Hicks brothers of Amherst, 6-2, 3-6, 8-6, 6-4. Junta will also retain his first seed in the singles.

Freshmen Crush Yale

The Yardlings swept the Yale freshmen Wednesday for their sixth straight win, giving indications of providing the varsity with some fine players next spring. Bob Bowditch, at number one, led the 9-0 victory by blasting Steve Anderson, 6-1, 6-2.
