Scene is a a small garret occupied by young man, product of hard working parents and a Public High School. His name is Leo and he is a work. In the room with Leo are his three roommates--Upton, Francis, and William. The latter three are "Andover men." The radio is playing.

Radio--People gonna rock, people gonna roll, movin and a groovin, gonna satisfy my soul . . . etc.

Upton--Really, Leo, a modicum of good taste!

Francis--Come now, Leo, control yourself.

William--Leo, you're a wonk.

Radio--Let's have a potty . . . rock . . . rock . . . etc.

Leo--Out of my room, you miserable preppies!

Announcer on Radio--And now we introduce a noo group being heard on the radio for the first time. It's a gang of seventeen-year-old kids from Phillips Academy called the BROMES. They're gonna sing, "Baby, You Jes' Wait."

Radio--twang plunk twang oh baby you jes' wait rock rock roll . . . etc.

Upton--Gasp!

Francis--nomdedieu.

William--(sob)
