Six Hockey Men Get Area Honors

Six members of the varsity hockey team last night received places on the 1954-55 New England all-star squad, selected by the area's hockey writers. Coach Cooney Weiland was named coach of the year.

In preparation for this week's Colorado tourney, the varsity will practice with the Boston Bruins at 4 p.m. today on the Watson rink. The practice will be open to the public.

Goalie Charlie Flynn, center Bill Cleary, and defenseman Doug Manchester are all on the first team. The latter two were unanimous choices, and were selected as top forward and top defenseman.

Defenseman Ned Almy received a position on the second team, and forward Scott Coolege and Joe Crehore got honorable mentions.

The other members of the first team are wing Jack Murphy of Boston University, wing Bill Leary of Boston College, and defenseman Russ Kingman of Brown.
