Wintergreens Favorites in Annual Clash With Rineharts Sextet Today

Rinehart depth will try to counter a fishier Wintergreen when the intramural rivals meet for their annual hockey game on the Watson Rink at 4:30 p.m. today.

Ace stick handler and playmaker Peto Fry of Dunster will captain the favored Wintergreens, whose squad includes five players from inter-House champion Eliot.

Lou Newell and Earl Silbert of Winthrop and Bob Kennard of Eliot will probably alternate on the Wintergreen first line, which includes the high scoring Fry at center.

But steady goaltending from Dudley's Oscar Swenson and Kirkland's Gordie Lunn may give the Rineharts enough defensive strength to offset the Wintergreen power. Rinehart captain and center Paul Brennan of Dudley can also count on a pair of sturdy defensemen in Kirkland's Mike Moskow and the Commuters' Art Tallas.

Brennan will face rival Wintergreen Captain Fry at center and his wings on the first line will be Bunnies' Ed Hurley and Lowell's Jim Josin. Hurley and the Rinehart' reserve center Pete Hoagland of Dudley were among the League's top scorers during the regular season and could make the difference if Swenson can repeat his previous outstanding performances in the nets.

Rinehart, Wintergreen all-star games were originated and sponsored by Adolph W. Samborski, Intramural Director, in 1950. This year he picked the teams in consultation with the coaches.
