The Dudley House upperclass advising system will begin early next week, head adviser Robert N. Harrington '56 said last night. Forty-seven upperclassmen have been chosen to counsel 127 commuting freshmen.

The purpose of the system will be to increase commuter participation in House and College activities, Harrington said in a letter to the advisers.

Harrington stated that he expects this will be the best way for the commuters to show the College administration that they should have a new building and full House status and not be integrated into the other Houses as non-resident members.

To aid the advisers, a short history of the Commuter Center, written by Stanley R. Dubinsky '57, is being circulated to all Dudley freshmen to show the progress Dudley has made in the last three years.

The history concludes that "apathy must vanish completely and hard work must be recognized as the only 'easy way' toward gaining a general note of respect and admiration from the rest of the Harvard community."

The decision to have the upperclass advising system was made early last month.
