Judges Choose Holly Carleton Miss 'Cliffe' 59

Miss Radcliffe of 1959 is a charming young lady of 17 years. From New Canaan, Conn., Holly Carleton was selected over the other four finalists in close balloting at Winthrop House Saturday night. The choice was based on poise, personality, and general appearance. The judges were particularly impressed with her quiet modesty and pleasant manner.

Her interests are more active than her quiet appearance would indicate. Holly has a special interest in the outdoors, ranging from tennis, swimming, and water skiing to casual hikes just to "look at everything."

The final selection was made at the Winthrop House dance, where House-master Ronald M. Ferry, John B. Henderson, Teaching Fellow in Economics, and their wives served as hosts. Herbert J. Spiro, Instructor in Government, just returned from Paris, announced the five finalists; Kenneth S. Lynn, '45, assistant professor of English, also served as a faculty judge.
