4 Yardling Touch Teams to Battle For Trip to Yale

Hollis, Matthows, North, Stonghton, and Weld South will play the semi-final round of freshman intramural touch football on Tuesday. The winners will meet each other the following afternoon for the right to challenge the champion freshman touch team at Yale next Friday.

Stoughton defeated Wigglesworth East 27-12 last week to cap an uphill battle for first place in the American League. Wigglesworth had won its first four games, while Stoughton lost its first tow, but from that point, on the pattern was reversed.

In a play-off game, Hollis trounced Dudley 34 to 20 yesterday to break a tie for the lead in the National League. Each has beaten the other once during the regular season.

In the Northern League, Matthews North downed Weld North in their first game of the season and came back to do it again, 20-0, last week. Those were the only two games Weld lost, but Matthews North won all its contests and took the title.

Weld South and Matthews South tied the first time they played in Southern League competition, but Matthews captured their second meeting 6-0. Weld protested, however, and was upheld. In the replay yesterday, Weld won the championship 28 to 2.
