Student Reaction To Film Groups Pronounced Good

Undergraduate groups have reacted favorably to Ivy Cinema, Paul D. Sheats '54, President of the Student Council, declared in a letter to Dean Watson yesterday.

"In order to determine undergraduate reaction to the Film Series recently set up by Ivy Films, the Liberal Union and the U.N. Council," Sheats wrote, "I have contacted the presidents of the HSMR, and the French and German Clubs. These organizations all had shown films last year.

"Upon explanation of the limited purposes and rules of the series, all these men agreed that it in no way hindered their activity as far as film showing were concerned."

The combination of Ivy Films, the U.N. Council and the Liberal Union in their film showing ventures had formerly been characterized as "monopolistic." The Student Council passed a resolution earlier this month stating that the merger involved no monopoly, but at that time had not contacted other interested undergraduate organizations.
