Oregon Visit Recalls 1919 Rose Bowl Win

When the University of Oregon plays its first Eastern grid contest in Fenway Park against Boston University today, those who remember the good old days of Crimson football will revive memories of Harvard's 7 to 6 victory over Oregon on New Year's Day, 1920, in the College's one and only Rose Bowl appearance.

Oregon was leading 2 to 0 in the second quarter when fullback Freddy Church faked a field goal attempt and ducked through the Oregon line to score. Arnold Horween kicked the extra point, and that was the game. Oregon scored another field goal in the same period, but missed in its three other attempts.
