Winthrop downed Adams to gain a 13 to 0 victory over the winless Gold Coat team, while Lowell bet Kirkland, 7 to 0, in yesterday's House football games.

The Winthrop game was one of the roughest of the year in the House league. Three times in the last quarter the attending doctor was called in to revive injured players.

Winthrop, which has lost only to Eliot, scored in the first quarter when Frank Hernberg passed into the Adams end zone. An Adam defender partially blocked Paul Rhodes.

Hernberg himself scored early in the second quarter when he cracked center and then broke through the Adams secondary to tally from the Gold Coast 40. In the second half Winthrop, with Hernberg and Bill Hickey running the ball, marched up and down the field, but the closest it came to scoring was a touchdown called back by a clipping penalty and a last minute pass to a receiver who had stopped to of the end-zone.

The first half of the Lowell-Kirkland game was a see-saw affair, in which neither team was able to garner together enough gains to score.

Lowell Wins

In the beginning of the second half a poor punt by Lowell went out on its own 30 yard line. Kirkland, trying to press this break, attempted a buck pas on a first down, and Dave Dawson, Lowell end, intercepted and carried to the Deacon 35.

Seven plays later, with Lou Brizzo and Bill Brown carrying alternately, Lowell reached the Winthrop 1 yard line. Then Bob Lown carried over on a quarterback sneak. He also kicked the extra point.

The Deacons got together a working attack in the last quarter, and, with Dick Larkin and Slug Dolan leading the drive, was on the Lowell 7 yard line when the game ended.

Eliot is now leading the league with three wins and no losses; Lowell is second with two wins and a tie; and next is Winthrop with 2 victories and a defeat.

Tomorrow Dunster plays Dudley and Winthrop meets Lowell.
