Last night's Brattle Theater opening of Luigi Pirandello's "Henry IV" assembled not only a prominent faculty audience but Broadway scouts and Life Magazine as well.
Representing Broadway was Robert Breen's, director of the American National Academy. Breen's approval, Brattle directors feel, will determine how far reliance on a semi-classic theater repertoire pays off in cold cash.
Rarely Performed
Pirandello is rarely performed in the country, but lesser-known works have been Brattle Hall tradition since its founding. Depending on the success of "Henry IV," the Brattle Players will go forward with plans for some of Shakespeare's lesser-known works.
While under the name of the Harvard Theater Workshop, the Brattle Company often attracted conspicuous University attentions.
