'Cliffe Alumnae Hear Fund Drive Report

Radcliffe

Radcliffe alumnae headed down the homestretch of their Seventieth Anniversary Fund campaign last night, when graduates representing all classes back to 1894 heard reports on the drive to date and plans for the last year of the campaign, which will end in June, 1949. The fund, for which the figure of $800,000 has been set, is being raised half by alumnae and half by private subscription.

Dean Bernice Brown Cronkhite of the Graduate School was principal speaker at the Alumnae Association dinner, served in Agassiz House. President and Mrs. W.K. Jordan were guests of honor. The dinner climaxed three days of alumnae festivities, which began with the annual association business meeting and presentation of an alumnae show written and directed by Mrs. Eunice Eddy Braaten '21.

Ignore Rain

Six hundred graduates and the class of 1948, as guests, broke out unbrellas and hiked through Saturday's drizzle to see the show, which included songs and skits based on the fashions of the 1920's; a motion picture of news events from 1919 to 1927, and a reel of Rudolph Valentine in "The Son of the Sheik."

Afternoon and evening performances of the show, which was presented on the Agassiz House Theatre stage by a cast of alumnae and undergraduates, were viewed by the graduates and outgoing 'Cliffedwellers in two shifts.

Senior activities prior to today's Commencement exercises have included the Baccalaureate service in Harvard Memorial Church Sunday afternoon, at which the speaker was Rev. Charles L. Seasholes of Dayton, Ohio, father of Molly Seasholes '48; and Class Night ceremonies Monday night.

Rain drove the Class Night procession from Radcliffe Yard to the Agassiz living room, where seniors marched through an arch of Chinese lanterns, and, in accordance with tradition, handed on their banner and colors to the class of 1951.
