Total Undergrad Enrollment Dips Slightly to 5,354

Sharp population reductions in Freshman and ocC categories and increases in other classes have pulled the total College enrollment down slightly from the record 5384 figure quoted by President Conant for November 5 to the present registration of 5354 undergraduates.

Statistics announced yesterday by Sargent Kennedy, Registrar of the College, show a 21 percent drop for Freshmen since last term, with only 1290 Yardlings now enrolled. The ocC group, containing men whose classes have already graduated, now is 1286 strong, signifying a 17 percent decline since November.

On the credit side of the ledger, however, the Senior class jumped 67 percent, with 518 men preparing for graduation. There are now 892 Juniors in the college, 32 percent more than in November. Sophomores have shown the slightest change, increasing by only 14 percent to a present figure of 1361.

Statistics on present veteran and non-veteran enrollment have not yet been tabulated by the Records Office. Last term former servicemen constituted 73 percent of the total College registration.
