Crimson Matmen To Enter Pit with Columbia's Lions

Bluemel, Knox Will Reinforce Varsity Lightweight Classes For New York Match Today

Slightly battered from last Saturday's match with Army, the Varsity wrestling team entrained for New York last night to take on Columbia's grapplers this afternoon on Morningside Heights. Since both teams lost to Army by identical scores, the meet promises to be a close one with the final decision probably resting on the outcome of the heavyweight bout between Pete Fuller of the Crimson and Hank O'Shaughnessy of the Blue.

Coached by wily old Gus Peterson, Columbia always has a capable grappling team if not a balanced one, and this year seems to follow the rules of history. Like the Crimson, the Lions are weak in the lighter classes and strong in the heavier ones with O'Shaughnessy and Horvath in the 175-pound class their strongest positions.

"It's going to be too close to make predictions about," Varsity coach Chief Boston said yesterday. "I thought my boys did very well against Army, and we may very well be able to give Columbia a surprise."

The heavyweight bout will see two of the best men in the Eastern unlimited classes collide. O'Shaughnessy, who played tackle on the Lions' football team team last fall, is undefeated this season, and has a long record of successful intercollegiate bouts behind him. Fuller, the Crimson heavy, has had three falls in three matches this year including one over a man O'Shaughnessy did not pin.

Boston is making two changes in his starting lineup in an attempt to build up strength in the lightweights. Bill Bluemel will be in the 121-pound class while Pete Knox will be at 128. The rest of the opening lineup is: 136-pounds, Frank Trinkle: 145-pounds, Dan Ray; 155-pounds, Connie Tyng; 165-pounds, captain Don Louria; 175-pounds, Bob Claflin; heavyweight, Fuller.
