Graduate Status in 4-F Draft Uncertain as Issue Develops

Little additional light could be shed on the latest 4-F draft scare at press time last night, although the threat to the nation's colleges was made more specific by some commentators.

While the May-Balley "limited national service" bill was urged upon Congress in Committee, figures showed that Harvard's graduate schools were in a worse position than the College. Most of the 858 undergraduates are below draft age, or foreign students, while the 25 percent in the 4-F category include chemistry, physics, pre-medical, and biological sciences students who may be exempted from a 4-F draft.
