If You Can't Get a Woman, Why, Go Get a Harvard Man

There was something about the girl in the grey sweater at the first table near the door that wasn't quite right. There was something hard and unfeminine about her as she walked into Eliot House last Saturday night, and people began wondering. But no one was sure. She had on a pink turban sort of thing.

The lady got served all right, and worked her way through a meal, sitting with her escort and another couple. Along about the salad, there was a shriek of recognition from one of Eliot's more colorful waitresses. "It's a man,' she lisped, and then it was known.

Facts are: James L. Williams '46 wanted a date, didn't have one. So classmate John Clemson volunteered, and they fixed him up, but good. Called him (her) Joan Pratt, even to the extent of signing a guest slip for her (him). But that turban gave it away.
