THE MAIL

To the Editor of the Crimson:

The letter which you published Friday regarding compliance with "dimout" regulations is a very natural observation.

For the information of your correspondents and all other interested persons: I would like to say that on the one hand many windows in the University premises have never been equipped with shades and on the other hand much space is being used at night which in normal times would not be so used.

As rapidly as possible shades are being installed and the night use of unshaded space is being held to a minimum.

In the meantime the best contribution that all of us whose rooms or offices are equipped with shades can make, is to keep them down when our lights are on, as requested by the Civilian Defense Authorities. Aldrich Durant,   District Warden, Harvard.
