FIFTEEN TURN OUT FOR WRESTLING PRACTICE

HARKNESS, GLENDINNING MISSED THIS YEAR

Initial practice of the wrestling season began yesterday when 15 candidates reported to Coach Pat Johnson in the Indoor Athletic Building.

With the heavyweight ranks considerably weakened by the graduation of Bill Glendinning, mighty unlimited class grappler, and Captain Johnnie Harkness, national 175-1b. champion, the matmen face one of the hardest years on record.

Strong Junior and Sophomore material bolster Johnson's hopes. Bill Daughaday who held down the 165-pound berth in the 1938 season reported yesterday along with Captain Harvey Ross and Louis Ach, both of whom have seen Varsity competition for two years in the 118-1b and 126-lb. positions, respectively.

Duncan Longcope '41, and Tom Lacey '41 are slated to fight for the 175-lb. berth. Prospect for the 155-lb. post is another Sophomore, Bunny Barnes, while Bruce Richardson '41 and Art Page '40 will contend for the 145-lb. position.

Al Richter '40 and John Murray are two possibilities for the 135-lb. assignment. Richter was undefeated in his Freshman year and earned a position last season on the Varsity. Ed Schoenberg '40 may give Ach a hard fight to retain his post in the 126-lb. class.
