Fresh from victories over Dartmouth, Brown, and the Graduates, the Varsity tennis team will face Columbia this Saturday and Yale next Saturday in their last two scheduled encounters. The Lion Netmen triumphed over Pennsylvania, by the same score as the Crimson, while the Elis boast their strongest aggregation in several years.

Jack Barnaby, who, because of regular coach Hanny Cowles's illness, has taken over guiding the racketmen, has done a very creditable job. Only Princeton and the nine tennis scholarship holders of Miami boast triumpirs over the Crimson in regular matches.

From Intercollegiate squash champion to the number one post on the tennis team is all in the day's work to Dick Dorson. The same endurance and determination to get everything which have made him Harvard's squash luminary have made him the ace of the netmen. Accuracy rather than speed is his forte.

Possessor of the best overhead on the squad, George Lowman is almost unbeatable when his turf-biting drives and scorching serves are working. From his number two position, he has compiled the best record of any singles man. Hubert Hauck holds down berth number three. Like Dorson, he is a good retriever, and his matches are generally filled with long rallies. Hauck has also made a name for himself in the world of University Ping Pong.

At number four is found Captain Jim Fuld. He has been handicapped by divisional work all spring and has never realized on his last season possibilities. He is capable of rising to heights, however, and should give a good account of himself against the Elis. Constantly improving is Alvah Sulloway at number five. A star in his Freshman year, he was an in-and-outer last year, and this year he seems to have just come into his own.

The number six player is rather difficult to predict, for there is quite a battle going on for it. In fact, nine inetmen rate about even, including Stuart Wyeth, Elwood Henneman, Andy Page, Jim Arensberg Oliver Bolton, Art Brown, Don Gordon, Dick Grandin, and Adrian Malone. Wyeth, Henneman, and Page have all played at this position in at least one match so far.

Top-ranking doubles outfits are, in order, Lowman and Hauck, Dorson and Fuld, and Gordon and Bolton. The first are standouts because of their net games, the second because of teamwork, and the third because of spirit. The third pair have played together since school, but it is their never-say-die courage rather than teamwork that has won them the post. Test matches in which this team participated often attracted sizeable crowds just to hear the two spiritedly exhorting each other.
