Geneva, Dec. 10--Concerted action of the major powers swept the rising threat of war in the Balkans aside suddenly tonight when Hungary and Jugoslavia joined in acceptance of a compromise solution of their dispute.

The compromise solution was drafted by representatives of France, Italy and Great Britain. It was accepted by Jugoslavia and Hungary during an intermission of the special session of the League of Nations Council, after another day of fiery debate in which warlike gestures disturbed the staid council halls.
