HUNGER ARMY

Albany, N.Y., Nov. 1--New York hunger marchers, badly battered in a clash with police, "dug in" tonight, determined to march on the Capitol and force Governor Herbert H. Lehman to meet their relief demands.

With Israel Amter, Communist candidate for governor, leading their bedraggled forces, the marchers settled down in a vacant Albany house and mapped their next line of attack.

The original army of 200--beaten off by police when it attempted to march on the city Tuesday--has grown to more than 300. More unemployed are en route to join their comrades.

A telegram was sent to Lehman, punctuated with stinging phrases. It criticized the police action, and added:

"Your failure to return to Albany tomorrow will reveal your hypocrisy in re- regard to the interest in the two million unemployed in the state.
